Board and Committees All parents and teachers of Bear Tavern Elementary are BTPTO members. As such, we all have the opportunity to become BTPTO Officers, Committee Chair Persons and Committee Volunteers and to attend PTO meetings. We all have the opportunity to make a difference for our children. Officers - The BTPTO selects its officers through an election based on self-nomination. Other than the power to amend the by-laws and elect Officers, BTPTO Officers have full power to act for the organization and supervise disbursement of funds between the regular meetings of the organization. President - Presides over all meetings of the organization. Serves as an ex-officio member of all committees. Coordinates and oversees the work of BTPTO Officers and committees. The President is the primary point-of-contact for all communications to and from the BTPTO and serves as a liaison to the principal. Vice President - Assist the President in any BTPTO duty. Treasurer - Manages all BTPTO funds, including keeping accurate financial records and paying out funds as authorized by the President and Officers. Prepares and presents yearly budgets and P&L. Secretary - Maintains record of all BTPTO meetings and publishes agendas and minutes. Maintain and responds to all correspondence and records. Trustee - Former President (or board member) who acts as a "consultant" to the current President and helps with the continuity of positions, policies and procedures. BTPTO Teacher Liaison - Attends PTO meetings. Solicits input of teachers concerning issues raised at PTO meetings and serves as a communication link between the PTO and teachers. Committee Chair Person - Committee Chairs and Co-Chairs are responsible for the planning, development, organization, and implementation of the Committee purpose. Anyone interested in chairing or co-chairing a Committee or who has a suggestion or new idea should speak to a BTPTO Officer.
